Stretching out summer...

We don't want summer to be over!!! Utah has crazy fall weather.  We had two really nice days, then a few days later, a major snow storm hit!

The kids were off track so we went to Wheeler Farm.  My kids love to go and see the animals.    My kids got a kick out of the fact that they found a chicken in the barn where they milk the cows and it had laid an egg on this cardboard box!  (below)

Soaking up ast day of sunshine before the long, Utah winter!

We love Wheeler Farm and feeding

 the ducks!

Proud Mamma Moments

I truly believe in reading to kids from a very young age.  I do many things wrong as a mom but that is one thing I have really tried to do.  I feel like my kids have really benefited from it and are better readers because of it.  I really enjoy our special reading time.  Am I perfect at it?  No but I sure try and that is all we really can do, right?

I put this picture on my blog today because it was one of those proud mamma moments.  I had washed my California king sheets that are not easy to put back on.  In fact, I usually rope my hubby into helping me.  My joke is always, "Babe, only 4 more months til couples sheet putting on Olympics!"  Or something like that!  Anyhow, I was busy with my 2 year old and I walked in my room and my 9 year old had put on our sheets all by herself!  The top of the sheet that has a wider band was on the side and that is what this is a picture of.  The point was, she had tried her hardest and that is a big job even for me, let alone her!  I was so proud of her.  I went on and on about it too!  In fact, they are still like that.  I just figured I would leave them like that til I wash them next.  Proud mamma moment, that is for sure!

My next proud mamma moment came when my son had some change and got a tupperware out to put it in.  (And I always wonder why I have so many without matching lids or vice versa!  That never happens at your house, right?)  Anyhow, I found this later and I just thought it was so cute.  I love how kids have high hopes and high dreams.  He did get about five bucks and then was dying to spend it but the point was that I thought it was so cute that he had done this and I love his 10 year old left handed writing.

My Younique news of the week is that Leggies are now on sale!  They are cute, fun, flirty, comfortable and stylish!  They weren't supposed to be available til Dec. but they became available early!  They are only $19.00.  I think that is a killer deal.  They are SO cute!  The Leggies are 95% Cotton and 5% Spandex.  They are 14 inches tall.  They only have a limited supply so if you are interested, order now!  The other awesome thing is that you can order as many sets as
you want and only pay $5.00 shipping no matter what!
Here is the link that will take you right where you need to be!

Magnetic Nail Polish Set

        Contains:
How does magnetic nail polish work?  This is the coolest stuff!  There are tiny magnetic fiber in the polish.  You paint it on, then place a magnet directly above the nail without touching the nail.  You hold it there for 20 seconds.  The fibers are attracted to form the design of what ever magnetic slicer you have chosen.  It looks 3D and super fun!

Younique's 3D fiber lashes

This is probably one of the most amazing products I have ever seen!  It comes in a 2 step process.  I think it works best to first apply a thin coat of your favorite mascara.  Let it dry and then curl your lashes.  Next, put on a coat of the transplanting gel and immediately put on the 2nd step which is the actual fibers.  They look like a bunch of tiny little hairs that make your lashes almost look furry!  Then, finish up with your favorite mascara to seal it.  Voila!  A 300% increase in length, thickness and noticeability!  Beautiful!  Below is a picture of my friend who has demonstrated it on one eye and not the other.

If you want to earn extra income or get 25% off product, you should become a Younique Presenter!  It is only $99.00 and is so easy!  Try the product, love the product, tell others about the product, get paid for selling the product!  You can do this all from your own home too!  How cool is that?

BLOG TITLE

I am please to feature my baby sis this week.  Her name is Ali Fenlon and she and a friend own Jekatree handbags.  When she first told me about her idea, I wasn't very encouraging.  I had sold crafts over the years and learned you don't make a lot of money.  Especially here in Utah.  I am so glad she didn't listen to me!  I am so glad she has pursed her dream!  She has done an amazing job and has built quite the clientele and are now in several shops as well.  I couldn't be more proud of her.  She is an amazing seamstress and makes incredible handbags, hair accessories, Ipad covers and more!  Check out her website for her amazing products!  www.jekatree.com

Here is a little bio about Ali (on the left) and her friend Jessica who are the Co-founders of Jekatree.

Jessica graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelors in Interior Design, and an Art Minor. She has taken that education, and her 5+ years of residential design experience, to a whole new level with her inspired product design. She is the sole designer of each handbag and cuts out every individual bag by hand. Her love of fabric and natural ability to mix patterns and colors has allowed her to create hundreds of unique combinations. She is the mom to two darling girls {Olivia 3, Lyla 1}, and has a rockstar husband who has never once complained about the mounds of fabric all over their house!

Ali graduated from Snow College, and went on to manage a local retail store for the next 3 years. She is the master seamstress behind Jeka Tree, who has single handily sewn each bag by hand... and all with her non-industrial Kenmore sewing machine! She was taught how to sew by her mother and grandmother, and it has become one of her most cherished talents. She is the mother to two energetic and adorable girlies {Avalon 3, Amelia 1}, and has a talented business man for a husband!

Way to go talented girls!  Can't wait to see where you go from here!

Witch Fingers and Kitty Litter treats!

                    Witch Finger Cookies!

My kids LOVED making witch finger cookies!
I text a picture to my husband and he thought they
looked so real!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 30 blanched almonds
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 stick), room temperature
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 5 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with Silpats (French nonstick baking mats) or parchment paper, and set aside.
  2. Place food coloring in a shallow bowl. Using a small paintbrush, color one rounded half of each almond. Set aside to dry.
  3. Separate 1 egg. Set aside the white. In a small bowl, whisk together yolk, remaining egg, and vanilla. Set aside.
  4. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine butter, confectioners' sugar, granulated sugar, and salt. Beat on medium speed until well combined. Add egg mixture, and beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Add the flour, and mix on low speed just until incorporated. Wrap the dough in plastic, and chill until firm, 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough in half. Work with one piece at a time, keeping remaining dough covered with plastic wrap and chilled. Divide the first half into 15 pieces. On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece back and forth with palms into finger shapes, 3 to 4 inches long. Pinch dough in two places to form knuckles. Score each knuckle lightly with the back of a small knife. Transfer fingers to prepared baking sheets. Repeat with remaining dough.
  6. When all fingers are formed, brush lightly with egg white. Position almond nails; push into dough to attach.
  7. Bake until lightly browned, about 12 minutes. Cool completely.

Grape nuts and brownies rolled up while they are still
warm look like real kitty litter!  It is pretty disgusting.
It is a trick instead of a treat!
A great conversation piece!
Have to be honest, it does ruin your
appetite a bit but I think it is hilarious!

Me making our daughter Whitney's Bingham Ball dress so it wasn't strapless.  They wanted
to charge $85.00 to make sleeves so I decided to dive into it myself!

One of my favorite things about doing hair is doing updos for dances and weddings.  Plus, I love not having to pay to have it done!  I am seeing a pattern here...are you?  Yes, I am a DIY kind of gal because I have to be frugal with a large family!  With Whitney's hair, we just bobby pinned the top back, then did 4 extremely loose braids, then twisted them and pinned them into buns.  It only took about 15 mins.  One of the quickest updos I have ever done!

How cute...my 8 year old is sitting right here by me while I am typing this and she looked over at this picture of our daughter and her date. She said, "Wow, I totally respect him!"  I asked her why.  She said, "Because he wore pink!"  Kids say the darndest things!  I love it!  I do love that he wore pink to match her dress.  I think it takes a real man to pull pink off.  Way to go Jesse!

So, right when they were getting these pictures taken I said to Jesse's Dad that they needed to be
on the cover of a prom magazine or something!  So, today I was on Facebook and look what Jesse's Dad sent us!  He is awesome!

Our son Jensen made it to the play offs! The
amazing team mom's put this in our yard.
Thank goodness for good women who do
things like be team mom's because I am not
one of those!

Go # 41!  Good Luck!

We love you Buddy!

Bingham Miners

are the best!

How fun was this?  I got to do a bride's hair for her bridal pictures and her wedding (below).  I also did her sister's hair too! (above)  I sort of made this up as I went.  She had hair almost to her waist and it is thick hair too.  I put it into three low ponytails in a row down the nape of her neck.  I then braided each ponytail and put them into three buns and pinned them into place.  What beautiful blonde girls!  Thank you for letting me play!  I love updos!  Congrats Steph!

My YOUNIQUE news of the week!

So since Younique launched on October 1st, we have now had 168 women sign up to be Presenters!  I am so happy that so many women are seeing the Younique vision!  It is so exciting!  I now have five others on my team.  Natalie, Dani, Jen, Delia, and Heather.  Natalie now has 3 on her team, Dani has 2, and Jen has 1.  Our team is growing!  Also, product became available on Nov. 1st.  In 48 hours, over $14,000 worth of product was sold!  Isn't that amazing?  So cool!  Here are some pictures of what is available now on my website at www.youniqueproducts.com/Jess

I love the names of the colors of eye shadows!
Four come in the Moodstruck kit but you can also
purchase them seperately.  They are $10.00

Younique's Fiber lashes are the coolest!
There are two steps.  One is the transplanting gel and
the other is the fibers.  Above is a picture of the fiber lashes
on the left eye above and nothing on the other eye.

Younique's magnetic nail polish is awesome!
It comes with five colors and 4 magnetic slicers.
The polish has little magnetic fibers in it.  You paint it
on and immediately hold the slicer of your choice above
the nail for 20 seconds.  The magnetic particles are pulled
to create the design you chose.  It looks 3D.  It is amazing
and my 8 year old can do it!  It is only $34.00 for the whole
set!  What a good deal!

Check out this video on how easy the magnetic nail polish is to use!
