THE WEDDING!!! BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM YOUNIQUE!!

January 8th, 2015, our oldest daughter Janessa, married the love of her life, John Palmer.  It was one of the happiest days of my life!  The winter day was mild and that made it so pleasant!  In order for Janessa to get a good night's sleep, my cute hubby Scott slept on the couch with our little 4 year old.  Is that a nice dad or what???  However, Janessa and I were so excited that neither really slept!  I got a migraine so got up at 3:45 a.m. to take a hot bath for some relief.  I am used to my hubby sleeping through stuff like that but it woke Janessa up and I felt SO bad!  She was so sweet about it.  We giggled and talked and it was a night that I will always cherish.  We decided to get up around 6 and get ready for the big day!  My cute friend Jen came and made a makeup house call.  Janessa's makeup looked amazing!  I did her hair in an updo and her and I headed down town around 8:45.  They were married in the Salt Lake Temple and it was a perfect day.  I am so happy they have found one another and have lived good, virtuous lives.  They are so happy...it is contagious to be around!  I am so excited to watch the rest of their lives unfold together!  Here are some picts of the day...these are just all from my camera and I will post the professional ones that were taken later!

NO FAIL SUGAR COOKIES!!!

Miracles do happen!  In the 38 years I have been alive, I don't think that I ever have made sugar cookies that have REALLY worked well.  I have tried many, many times and today was my lucky day!  I googled NO FAIL SUGAR COOKIES and picked a recipe that you could use intricate cookie cutters with because the dough held its shape really well and the dough was to die for!  I am a sucker for cookie dough!
I also liked the trick of using parchment paper (I used waxed paper...not sure the difference) and didn't have to wait an hour or two to let the dough chill.  Patience in the kitchen is not one of my strongest virtues!  Here is my cute little 4 year old Lilly and it was her idea to make cookies.  The other 6 kids weren't home...they will be in charge of frosting them if they don't get eaten first, LOL.  Here is the recipe!

NFSC:  NO FAIL SUGAR COOKIES!  http://www.food.com/recipe/no-fail-sugar-cookies-108172

INGREDIENTS:

cups flour

Directions:

  1. 1
    Cream butter and sugar.
  2. 2
    Add eggs and vanilla.
  3. 3
Mix dry ingredients and add to butter mixture.
  4. 4
    Mix well.
  5. 5
Chill for 1 to 2 hours or see HINT below.
  6. 6
Roll to desired thickness and cut into desired shapes.
  7. 7
Bake on an ungreased baking sheet at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until just beginning to turn brown around the edges.
  8. 8
HINT: Rolling out dough without the mess-rather than wait for the dough to chill, take freshly made dough and place a glob between two sheets of parchment paper.
  9. 9
Roll it out to the desired thickness then place the dough with paper on a cookie sheet and pop it in the refrigerator.
  10. 10
Continue rolling dough between paper until you have used it all.
  11. 11
By the time you finish preparing the dough, the first batch will be chilled and ready to cut.
  12. 12
Reroll left over dough and repeat the process.
  13. 13
An added bonus is that you aren't adding any more flour to the cookies by rolling them out the old fashioned way.

Younique First Ladies 1st Team Meeting!

The Younique First Ladies 1st Team meeting was a huge success!  Thanks to all who attended!  It was on Friday, November 14th, 2014.  We first had an hour of meet, greet and eat and then 2 hours of training.  We did a team exercise where we got into two teams and stood staggered across from each other.  As a team, the object was to lower the tent pole to the ground with only letting it rest on the top of your index finger.  It actually was much
more difficult that you would think!  It takes a lot longer.  I loved observing..I observed natural leaders blossoming. They were encouraging the team, staying positive, and pointed out things that could be applied to our Younique business.  For example, were you competing?  We are not in competition with each other.  Were you encouraging or discouraging?  It was a great team building activity and the power of positive thinking!
